Jaewoo Joo
As a Ph.D. candidate in Marketing at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, I do research and teach design and marketing.
My research interests and teaching experiences are at the intersection of design and marketing. I study design issues such as how designers develop new products or how consumers respond to product design. I teach marketing courses or assisted interdisciplinary design courses as a member of Rotman Designworks. Therefore, I attend marketing conferences and design workshops in order to serve a bridge between two communities.
My effort to reach out to both marketers and designers led me to serve as a panelist for 2009 World’s Best Design Schools at Business Week (see “How can we came up with our D-School list“).
If you are interested in any of my works, please contact me at designmarketinglab@gmail.com.

Hi Jaewoo,
Firstly, I am very impressed by your blog. It covers the flux of two radically complimentary domains : Business & Design.
I am an Industrial Designer and have been leading innovation for my buisness in a fortune 100 company. When I felt the need to do an MBA, Rotman seemed to be a good option as it is probably the only few 2-3 schools that recognizes the power of design thinking. I have already got an admit in 2010 batch, but now I am getting some mixed feedbacks from the current students regarding job opportunities and other prospects in Canada.
I need your help urgently, to help me take my decision. My due date for confirming my admission is Jan 2nd Week.
Can we chat ? or, Can I call you ??
Thanks & Best Regards
Arvind
Dear Mr Jaewoo Joo,
I am writing on behalf of the Korean Students’ Association of Canada (KSAC), which is the largest Korean-Canadian student organization. Korean Students’ Association of Canada is a growing student organization since 1998. It has been serving the Korean-Canadian student community for the past eleven years through social and academic events including president dinners, annual KSAC games, university fair, and career conference. Currently, KSAC 2009-2010 consists of 13 executive members, working on a voluntary basis, and 19 Korean Students’ Associations from different universities across Ontario are registered as members of KSAC. To learn more about KSAC, please visit http://www.ksacanada.com.
Currently, we are planning to host the 2nd Annual KSAC Career Conference sponsored by the Korea Times Daily. The conference will be held at the University of Toronto on March 13th 2010 from 9:30am to 4:00pm.
The KSAC Career Conference has been one of the most prominent events for the Korean-Canadian students in our community. The theme of this year’s KSAC conference is “Pursue Your Passion.” We are currently looking for a marketing speaker for this year’s career event. The conference will run through five sessions including two keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, seminar series, and resume workshops.
We would be very grateful if you could be willing to become our speaker for the KSAC Career Conference.
Please, leave us a message and your contact information if you would be able to make it to our conference.
We will send you detailed information regarding the conference via email.
We feel that you would be the perfect marketing speaker for our event and that you would inspire our students. Please consider our request for your help in our event.
If you have any questions or concerns, or if I may be of assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me at ksac.sdu@gmail.com
Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
